– Flores’ Table Taking Shape
The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, Aussie starlet Kylie Minogue, ‘Ol Blue Eyes’ Frank Sinatra, all-round wit Stephen Fry, comedian Eddie Izzard and Superchef Gordon Ramsey are emerging as Leicester’s favourite dinner guests.
The six famous names are the front runners in an imaginative campaign launched by Flores, the exciting new ‘pulutan’ bar and kitchen due to open to the public on Saturday August 25 2007.
Flores’ initiative, unveiled on an eye-catching 40ft hoarding on the corner of New Walk and Kings Street a fortnight ago has already had over 350 responses to their question: “Cowell, Carey or Confucius… who would be your five perfect dinner guests?”
Other members of the great and good to receive more than three votes include Take That frontman Gary Barlow, revolutionary guitarist Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles’ John Lennon, writer Oscar Wilde and funnymen Peter Kay and Ricky Gervais.
Flores Owner Andrew Jones explained: “We have asked Leicester to name the five famous people, alive or dead, with whom they would share their perfect meal. We’re creating a bar and kitchen specifically designed for sharing good food as well as good conversation, and we think this question strikes at the heart of what we’re hoping to create – a unique dining experience that can be enjoyed with excellent company.”
Flores Executive Chef Jonny Bingham added: “Looking through the entries, Leicester's tastes are clearly very diverse. We’ve had nominations for Nostradamus, Albert Einstein and William Shakespeare as well as Jordan, Kate Moss and Bagpuss! There’s still over a fortnight to run in our campaign so things could change; the final table is going make very interesting viewing indeed.”
Those wishing to record their five perfect dinner guests can do so by visiting www.flores-leicester.co.uk. All entries will be collated to make Leicester’s perfect dinner guests.
At the launch evening, a unique picture of the five famous selections will be ceremonially hung on the Flores gallery wall. Entries close on Friday August 18th.
