Flores Leading Call For ‘New Leicester’
< Back to news

Andrew Jones, the owner of Flores, Leicester’s newest bar and kitchen which opens on Saturday August 25th, is leading the call for the return of the Leicester dining community to the city’s centre.

Jones, has railed against a growing ‘Superbar’ culture which is in danger of making the city’s hub a no-go area for large part’s of the city’s community. He commented: “Nationally and locally there is a growing sector of the population becoming alienated by city centres at night. In Flores we’ve created a home that maintains the viability and vitality of city centre and ensures it remains relevant to all sections of the community.”

Flores, located at the Grade II Listed building on New Walk, will feature an eclectic mix of music and be absent of entertainment machines or plasma screens.

Flores menu has been constructed using smaller plates and diverse tastes to create a dining experience designed to share with fellow diners. The drinks list features independent wines and micro brewery beers from around the world.

Jones concluded: “We very much hope Flores can be the start of a new trend; the trend of a slightly older sector, more sophisticated part of the Leicester community, re-claiming city centre evening leisure as its own.”
